Have you heard about the drought in Tennessee this year? The ponds are dry, the creeks are dry, and even the public water systems are restricting water use.

Our 89 year old neighbor, a very wise farmer, has this to say, "Well, I'll tell ya, it isn't raining cause we aren't paying the preacher enough."

Sounds like he might know what he is talking about because for the first time in 10 years of ministry this preacher's family is not making ends meet. Add to that our chapter from the very bad, not so good year.

3/4 of the springs dried up · no growing pasture for the horses · had to feed the winter's hay in the summer · family dairy cow retired (permanently) · most all of the chickens killed by crafty, sneaky, outlaw racoons and hawks · garden dried up from no water · deep freezer died · van tires are bald · economy car which was on it's last leg anyway got hit by a deer, we didn't hit it, it hit us! · there is a hay shortage so hay has to be bought from out of state, and my computer keeps burning up! we have put ministry first so the home front is suffering

on top of that a very, very,  difficult trip for my mom's death

add to that a sudden drop in income and we need help!

that isn't even the half of it but I already sound like I am whining, and I despise whining

We have it on good word that if let out the news that we have a need the people will respond. So here goes. We need:

hay in the barn and some barn roof materials

a replacement deep freeze and it needs to be filled

tires on the van

a replacement economy car

replacement computer

farm payment is due, property taxes are due, and utility payments are past due, and these are only the urgent needs

we also strongly desire to offer the next worship cd free again but can't if we can't afford to produce it

Sure sounds like a lot of needs but we serve a very Big God. We have a lot of folks praying and I believe this is an answer to those prayers. Since Jim isn't looking over my shoulder I will spill the beans. Often people use the term, "too heavenly minded to be of any earthly good". Well I will tell you, that is Jim Raine, and I say it with the utmost of respect. If more people were as heavenly minded as this man the earth wouldn't need any more good. Everyone would be saved, healed, and delivered.  He spends more time with Jesus that anyone I know, profitable, fruitful time. If you have ever sent me a prayer request know that it is prayed over earnestly until the Lord says it is done. Wouldn't it be nice if every preacher did that? Well this one is willing, but I must admit when he knows our needs are met he is a lot more at ease. The Lord told me years ago that thousands of guys were willing to be carpenters but very few were willing to be prayer warriors. This is your opportunity to keep this preacher where his heart is, in his prayer field, and ministering to anyone that comes along, even on the side of the road like he did yesterday. A man and woman on the side of the road whose car had died. Jim not only helped with their car but as they shared about the cancer that was causing her need to go in for treatment, he offered to pray. And when I say pray, I mean pray. Like the kind where Jesus shows up, like the kind of prayer where somebody's life depends on it. Well he prayed, she cried and broke down and accepted the goodness of the Lord, right on the side of the road. This is what Jim lives for, where he needs to be. It is time to bless this preacher.

Who knows, maybe it will even rain.
